Welcome to another exciting event, this time showcasing and celebrating the diverse riches of an African giant, Nigeria, with an aim to divert public/international attention from the constant and incessant Nigeria bashing. Holding first on November 6th 2021, it will hold annually. Titled “Nigeria Week – Wazobia2021″, this conference sought to create a forum to ponder on issues that bring Nigerians together; to promote our diverse economic and cultural heritage, and also to showcase local innovations/inventions with the goal to attract investors through a series of annual summits and trade shows, to aid development in our communities.
General Background
Nigeria alone accounts for more inhabitants and GDP than all French speaking countries in Africa, put together. It is classified as an emerging country, possibly a BRIC, yet the majority of its population live with less than a US dollar a day. Governance, culture and natural resources remain at the heart of the interest of the Western World in general and France in particular, who seem to domestically develop peculiar misconceptions about this little-known African giant. Nigerians in diaspora experience first-hand, the incessant tag of Nigerians as criminals or people of questionable characters. Everywhere we turn to, we are faced with this misconstrued image attributed to Nigerians worldwide. Therefore, we believe that it is our responsibility of every honourable citizen to conduct ourselves in ways that bring glory and honour to Nigeria.
As our contribution, we at AfricaFora, strive to initiate events to counter this image through far-reaching activities and engagements in various forms that showcase and celebrate our motherland, hence Nigeria Week – Wazobia 2021.
Expected Outcomes
Promote the activities of Nigerian business communities at home and abroad,
Enhance market presence of Nigerian products and services in France,
Promote a collaborative economic, commercial and cultural trade and relations,
Boost the Nigerian brand,
Further develop intercultural and bilateral relations with France,
Counter and control negative clichés on Nigeria, restore pride.
